Project Concept Development
From 2025 to 2026, the Broward MPO developed a Project Concept for the C-13 Canal’s abutting greenway in the City of Sunrise.
The goal of the Broward MPO’s Project Concept program is to identify a locally supported conceptual design that provides safe and comfortable facilities for all roadway users.
Locally Supported Concept
On March 24, 2026, the City of Sunrise adopted a Resolution endorsing Alternative 2 – South Alignment, Switching to North Alignment at Pine Island Road. This alignment involves the trail is located on the south side of the C-13 Canal between Hiatus Rd and Pine Island Rd, and then transitions to the north side of the C-13 Canal between Pine Island Rd and University Dr.
