The Fiscal Year 2017 U.S. House of Representatives Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations Bill includes $11.01 million dollars for the downtown Fort Lauderdale Wave Streetcar as part of the Federal Transit Administration's (FTA) Small Starts Budget.

The MPO worked with students from Deerfield Beach High School to teach the next generation about transportation planning and the role of the MPO in our community. The partnership culminated with a visit to the MPO from the students on Tuesday May 17, where students participated in an exercise on planning the future of the Cypress Creek Mobility Hub.

The MPO has submitted a Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) Grant to the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) for its Regional Complete Streets Initiative. If awarded, the grant would help fund $19.1 million dollars worth of bike and pedestrian improvements in the cities of Fort Lauderdale, Lauderdale Lakes, Oakland Park, and Pompano Beach.
