Students from McFatter Technical School gathered at the Broward MPO office on March 6, 2019 for the third day of the Think Like a Planner program. During their visit, students walked the Cypress Creek Mobility Hub to determine how to make the area more accomodating for pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and motorists. After touring the area, writing down comments, and documenting with pictures, students worked amongst their groups, fueled by a pizza working lunch, to create a five minute presentation to a group of three panel judges, Rebecca Schultz (Broward MPO), Ken Reinhardt (American Association of Retired Persons), and Amie Goddeau (Florida Department of Transportation). During the student's site visit, they had the opportunity to tour the office, get insight on the transportation industry, advice on choosing a college major, as well as feedback on presentation skills that will set them apart. Students had a blast talking to our planners, public involvement team, and transportation decision makers. We look forward to hosting this program next school year!
