Known as Ciclovías Recreativas in Latin America, where the concept first originated, Open Streets programs temporarily open streets exclusively for people so they can enjoy safe, free space in their city.
Open Streets offer communities the opportunity to experience their streets in whole new ways by providing new public spaces, connecting neighborhoods and cities, and encouraging physical activity by exploring community assets such as parks, local businesses, etc.
Open Streets initiatives are typically recognized for creating a fun and inviting outdoor environment for physical activity. Another benefit is the social one these programs can enrich the social fabric of communities and enhance quality of life for all participants – both citizens and business owners alike.

This is an opportunity to learn from experts about the impacts of this initiative in the communities adopting it.
