Since 2014, the Broward MPO has organized annual Let’s Go Biking! Events to promote the use of Broward’s bicycle facilities, bicycle safety, and the health benefits of active transportation. Cyclists of all ages and abilities are encouraged and welcome to participate. This annual bike ride also features fun activities such as helmet fittings, healthy eating demonstrations, bicycle giveaways and more!
2024 Let's Go Biking! in the City of Miramar
On Saturday, March 16, the Broward MPO hosted its annual Let's Go Biking! event. In partnership with the City of Miramar, this event sought to celebrate and promote cycling as a healthy, safe, and enjoyable mode of transportation within the community. Held at Miramar Regional Park, the event featured a 7.5 mile community bike ride, offering activities aimed at cyclists of all ages and skill levels.
Participants were provided with free helmet fittings by certified fitters, ensuring everyone's safety on the ride. Partner tables from organizations such as South Florida Commuter Services and MAP Broward offered literature, giveaways, and interactive displays. Families enjoyed an array of games, music, and healthy snacks, adding to the festive atmosphere. The Miramar Police highlighted a tactical vehicle, and complimentary bicycles were available for those without their own. Additionally, attendees had the chance to win various raffle prizes, including event tickets, an electric bike pump, a bike repair kit, and a kids' mountain bike. Thank you to the City of Miramar and to Commute Broward for graciously donating this year's raffle prizes!
The purpose of the Let's Go Biking! 2024 event went beyond just a fun community gathering; it aimed to educate residents about bicycle safety, introduce them to the local bicycle facilities, and highlight the importance of exercise. The Miramar Police Department ensured a safe and informative ride, while City of Miramar Commissioner Yvette Colbourne and MPO Executive Director Greg Stuart opened the event, underlining its significance in promoting the MPO's Complete Streets Initiative. This initiative emphasizes designing streets that accommodate all users, highlighting the MPO's commitment to creating more inclusive, healthy, and accessible communities.

2021 Let's Go Biking! Virtual Event
The MPO Team held a virtual event during the entire month of March for Let's Go Biking! in 2021. The event encouraged those of all ages and abilities to participate. Our latest Broward Complete Streets Bike Map release was a HUGE part of this event since this year marked the first time the MPO issued an Interactive Online Version of the map!

2020 Let's Go Biking! in the City of Tamarac
The MPO held a 8-mile bike ride on Saturday, March 7, 2020 to experience biking facilities in Tamarac (along Nob Hill Road, Cypress Creek Trail and Pine Island Road). These facilities were designed to make it safer for those who drive, bike and walk in City of Tamarac neighborhoods. Thanks to all who came out and joined us!
