Transportation Academy

From April 04, 2024 9:00 am until April 04, 2024 2:00 pm

Available only to MPO Board members, this in-person development series created to help local leaders champion community investments in transportation and navigate the process of completing those projects. The series of five classes are designed to expand your foundational knowledge of transportation planning and infrastructure development to improve transportation connectivity in your community. The comprehensive curriculum includes modules that cover the following topics: foundations of transportation planning, project development, the regional planning role of the MPO, Federal and State funding constraints and opportunities, project trade-offs, prioritization processes, project advancement, and more.

Highlights of the Program

  • Experiential Learning: Expect hands-on projects, case studies, and real-world problem-solving where you will apply your knowledge to practical scenarios.
  • Networking Opportunities: The teamwork fostered through interactive classroom sessions, spirited discussions, and special projects will expand your professional network, building connections with peers and industry experts.
  • Certification: Upon successful completion of the program, you will earn recognition for leadership competency in guiding transportation projects to completion.

We truly appreciate the investment of your time to attend the five sessions scheduled from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. on February 1, March 7, April 4, May 2, and June 6 at the MPO’s office. Space is limited to 16 participants. Registration deadline is Friday, January 26, 2024.

MPO and Partner Cities Launch “Don’t Risk It” Campaign to Promote Rail Safety

The Broward MPO, in collaboration with the cities of Deerfield Beach, Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, and Hallandale Beach, has launched a new rail safety campaign, “Don’t Risk It.” The campaign aims to raise awareness about the dangers of reckless behavior around trains and railroad crossings and reduce the rising accident rates in the region.
